EVENING CONTEMPLATION

By Tish1
I am not sure what I think of this image; while I think I have met my objective of achieving:

a) a long exposure of 60 seconds with an image at the end of it

b) a glacial effect on water

However, I think it is a little insipid, which probably means that the exposure time was too long, and/or the white balance was set incorrectly [you see I do listen to what you say]. Having said that I am sure that you know what the problem is and I hope you will share your expertise with me.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to view and comment on my upload 'Evening Reflections'. This was taken at the same time, sadly I was interrupted so these are the only two images from that shoot.

Very beautiful with nice colours.
The colors of this shot are wonderful Tish. And, a shorter exposure might have given you more defined reflections of the clouds on the water, though the "color field" effect you have here does work quite nicely.

You say the nicest things Herman............... What do you mean, what am I doing up at this time on a Saturday morning [or any morning for that matter] I have to drive to Middlesbrough, which is about 2 hours from Sheffield and I have just looked out of the window to discover thick fog.

Beautiful colouring and landscape Smile

The long exposure (61 secs) has blurred the cloud movement & its reflections & made the water glassy smooth
A good pleasing tranquil image Tish
Always experiment with different shutter speeds when taking these landscape imagesGrin

Very tranquil shot Tish, and i really like it, did you shoot it in RAW if so you can change the white balance easily. But i think its great as it is

I may have a RAW copy since I tend to set my camera to shoot both RAW & JPEG

The mod looks great, and of course confusing to me; the sky and the water are the same, but the trees are different possibly mirrored. If so, how to you mirror one section, specifically the middle section without mirroring the rest?

Well I am pleased the white balance is getting better I set it to cloudy, therefore the exposure must be too long because although I did achieve some of my objectives but it is still not the image I had in my head........ As I said to someone recently perhaps I should ditch the camera and just use my head since the images in there are brilliant, and possibly even flawless GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Whats the difference between what you imagined, and what you got?

I just selected trees on the left, moved them to the righ to fill the empty space, anf flipped them horizontally.

I didn't expect that colour range, it was a surprise, I think I expected it to be darker.

I'm really not sure how I missed this one Tish, but glad in a way as it allows me to make the tally so far 30 and for you to achieve the Readers Choice. The image is sublime, I love the pastel colours they are gorgeous. The only small comment I have is that I think the horizon is slightly off, but not enough to spoil the effect. Lovely work Tish
