Hairy Stereum

Encrustations and rows of small thin and tough semicircular caps that are bracket like.
They fuse to their neighbours.
The upper side is roughly hair and colours range from yellow-orange to grey-brown in colour.
They become green algae when old .
The paler ,broader area is hairless. the spore bearing area is lower and has a smooth surface . it's bright yellow -orange in colour but starts to fade to grey-brown as it get older.

Found on fallen trees and dead wood . can be found all year round. inedible as tough and leathery
