Sunshine through a fallen tree trunks roots experiment

By Mototaur
In this one I was experimenting with sunlight and making my own bokeah with camera lens and sunlight Wink
It's far from the perfect image . but it was fun playing about with the camera etc to see what happened.

It is always good to experiment and try something different. Don't stop. Unfortunately, for me in this case, you just have light flare reducing the image content so that it is neither detailed nor abstract. Not a lot to be done.

Try again, but less flare.

Hi and welcome to the Critique Gallery!

Photography means drawing with light, light is everything, and experimenting with it is how we learn to understand what it can do for us. Playing about with the camera etc to see what happened is important!

Light flare works for me when it creates a pattern that complements the overall composition, V2 and V3 don't quite do that. But I like V1, the combination of the light and the disappearing tail. It's about capturing the fleeting moment - that's what stills photography alone can do.

I want to try a closer crop, and a bit more contrast to emphasise the beams of light. I'll upload a Mod if I can get something that works.

Your portfolio is fascinating, full of unusual images that fire the imagination.
Continue to be creative, to show people your own view of the world, and to think outside of the box. This is your own photographic path, enjoy it. Blaze your own trail!
A lot of photographers seek to produce original work but find it incredibly difficult to avoid the traps of cliched compositions etc...not you.

Here you have adventurously broken several rules:- you were shooting into the light, you did not try to avoid lens flare, you have only part of an animal in your frame, there is a bright branch running right across the frame, etc.

Bokeh is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur in out-of-focus areas of an image. Those soft, round glowing areas that you see in the background. What you have here is lens flare.

So, as you say, it's far from the perfect image, but you're experimenting and having fun.
