Fantasticly clear - very well taken - and great PS work, you wouldn't have known. DOF is spot on and those eyes are great!

Not sure about the border though - I find it a bit distracting for such a great photo.

When scanning from negative I always go for the best quality which gives me a 100mb image, its absolutely huge, but then its really easy to reduce the size but maintain the quality. Does take a while to get the image scanned, but its worth doing it that way for me

Wonderful capture, the eyes are really impressive. Nothing to say about sharpness or depth of field, it's perfect.
Just one little thing about composition: as the bird is looking to the left, maybe it should have been placed a little bit more on the right side of the frame. But it was perhaps not possible?
