Purple daysi

Purple daysiThis should have been brilliant. Could be me as I have one eye giving me blur over clarity so forgive me saying the entire image seems well off sharp. You may have intended the entire image being a blur but you have not said; so again I apologise if it was intentional.

For me all I would have done is cropped the bottom of the image slightly.

I'm giving a vote for the composure.

Should my comments be unwelcome, I'm sorry.

"Do I look bothered?"

"Do I look bothered?"Great shot Nathan, one with feeling. As far as critique is concerned I personally would have shot at a higher f number, trying f4 through to slightly smaller aperture. The blur does indeed work mind, so it could be a case of trying a few different settings to see what happens. I can however appreciate why you chose said f number as you were hand held with limited light.

Have a cracker of a day.

Autumn Fungi

Autumn FungiOK then; there is so much I really do like with this image! I could leave it at that and vote then. I'm going to comment based on what I like, and what I think makes an interesting macro style 'shroom' shot.

The lighting I think works well and the colours are really rich, maybe too rich in the background. I would have used a larger aperture to ensure I got the background hazy but not at all distracting which again I feel it is. That is not to say the next ten will love it to bits Smile I'd have not cropped off at the bottom, leaving all of the foreground shroom and those really dainty wee ones too. If it was no a crop I would have dropped down a pinch. I think the single strand of web works, the wet slippery texture is also great. I'd have removed the object bottom corner right hand side by looking through viewfinder, seeing it as distracting and just taken it out.

Can't comment on point of focus as how it is is how you saw the image. Did you use manual focus? The background is grainy so again a diffused look might have suited it more, and as I mentioned the Lincoln green is quite rich; I'd have pulled the green in a tad. Like the moss, the twigs and especially I like the sunlight on the shrooms. Any reason you went with ISO 800 at that aperture size? I'm assuming it was hand held or do you have the camera resting on something?

All in all though, for a first macro it rocks!

All of the above is my opinion on what I like and what I don't. I am a rank amateur with an interest that happens to be photography.

Otters at Play

Otters at PlayI really like it; a lot! But honestly I think the third image R/H side does not flow in a traditional Tryiptych 'style'. That is just my personal opinion, and I might be looking in a different way to everyone else.
