Helleborus

By Mozzytheboy
It was a very cold frosty day here yesterday, so after a walk I thought I would see if anything in the garden might be worth a snap. Found these Helleborus all in flower. I laid the camera on the ground, and used auto-focus. As the Helleborus grow with their flower hanging part downwards, I felt laying the camera down and shooting part plant BG and sky might work.

Some minor fiddling with highlights and shadows, not a lot else really. I'm thinking my initial feelings about the Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 were wrong. The more time I spend with this camera the more pleased I am.

Hi again Mike,
Some really good colours in there.
It's just a shade underexposed but only a shade and given that the camera was pointing towards the sky that's no surprise.
In fact, it's done a good job, getting it almost exactly right.
I find the second flower. on the left, is a bit of a distraction but there's some rim lighting on the main one which adds some separation.
Did you consider any other crops? A square one's the obvious one but there's also an 8x10 in there, losing most of the left hand side.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Bren.

Thanks Bren; the under EX was by design on this one, used spot metering so was quite happy. Tried the ol square but in the end plumped on this for here as I really was pleased with the way in which the flower drifts out to the left.

Did quite a few crops.

And yes Bren I treasure the help ... as always.

As you know I'm not that into technique, only know what I like. To me this looks superb Mozzy. Well done.
Peter.
