I make no great claims for my photography. But I do try very hard not to be boring.
Thanks for calling in. Moira

After 13 years on the site I reckoned it was time to update the wording here. A lot has happened in those years.
I suppose that this portfolio is simply the world as I see and experience it, nothing more. I don't plan images, I respond to what I see. Full stop.
Like a lot of people here I grew up in the age of b&w. So for me the visual world is lines, structures, they are what make the image. Mono seems a natural way to see, colour needs to add something to justify its presence. Which sometimes it does...
I'm a photographic split personality. I love photographing people, a lot of my activity is as volunteer Community Photographer in our little town. But I also love abstract and semi-abstract work, because the closer you look at our world the weirder it is.
I now run a U3A (University of the Third Age) Digital Photography group, along with my Better Half Bill. And in 2013 I was delighted and honoured to be invited onto the site's Critique Team. Now that I have found my feet there I enjoy helping others to explore this wonderful obsession.
I arrived here still in shock after the loss of our film gear in a burglary. Digital was a steep learning curve. The site has made me more focused, more self-critical. But equally important is the contact with a whole community of good people, who would never bump into each other in 'real' life.
It's ePHOTOzine that has given me the skills, self-confidence and motivation to do what I do now, I have received so much advice and help and I am immensely grateful to everyone here.
