Good point...
Thanks for some very thoughtful comments, I do think this sort of story is what makes our local papers so characterful. This story was also the leading item on local TV news the week we were there.

It's a quiet place...
Cheers everyone. I'm off to photograph a Forensic Science Day, advertised as Not for the squeamish...
Moira

I remember the colour version well - and that headline again made me smile, as well as the dogs backing away from the woman.
I wish I lived in a town where one of the most important stories of the year was a woman accidentally giving a new blouse to charity................or did she try to get it back
have a good weekend Moira,
Anne

I quite fancy that, not having to be subjected to noxious odours that people throw over their bodies and then sit next to me on the bus, being able to walk through Debenhams' perfumery without holding my breath........but I'd miss the wonderful smells emanating from the kitchen when my partner prepares dinner, and the perfume from summer flowers. No, don't think I'd really like it.
I love our little bits of local news, they're so much more interesting than the national stuff.
"I'm off to photograph a Forensic Science Day" - I'm scared!

On the scent of a comical candid street scene eh Moira, I can imagine you walking around town sniffing out another photographic opportunity. You have a real eye for this type of image and you nose it!
Norfolk in chance of me seeing anything like this, I'd probably just walk on by!
As for our local Gloucestershire papers non news stories, some of the headlines have to be seen to be believed. They have numerous ones about celebrities with very tenuous links to the county and others that are so mundane and uninteresting that they are just a waste of news space!

Quote:"So she never smelled after 37 years, that must be great deodorant?"

Lol...I was thinking the same thing when I saw the headline!
From what you said about what passes off as news, I can imagine the dogs' meeting could've made the papers the next day: "Canine Fracas Narrowly Averted"
