An everyday story of country folk 2

By mrswoolybill
This was taken in Cromer, and there's something very Norfolk about it for me, but I guess a lot of local news is like this.
One of our local paper's top stories of 2012 (selected by them as a highlight of the year), was about a lady who had accidentally put a new blouse in a charity bag...
I uploaded this in colour last year. B&W has fewer distractions for me, but it took several attempts to get a conversion that I liked.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

The black and white works because that's esentially what newspapers are. This could easily be another lead in the local freebie. And I'm still chuckling at the image.

Nicely observed Moira quirky maybe but it's still reality, albeit weird, to a lot of people. This makes me think about what's really important in life ! Love the POV

So much better than the National News! It's what makes the English English! And long may that continue Grin

I do like the low viewpoint here and IMO it definitely works better in mono.

Good point...
Thanks for some very thoughtful comments, I do think this sort of story is what makes our local papers so characterful. This story was also the leading item on local TV news the week we were there.

Isn't it amusing when people don't quite say what they meant to say? I like the dogs sniffing each other right next to this poster.

I remember the colour version well - and that headline again made me smile, as well as the dogs backing away from the woman.

I wish I lived in a town where one of the most important stories of the year was a woman accidentally giving a new blouse to charity................or did she try to get it back Tongue

have a good weekend Moira,

I quite fancy that, not having to be subjected to noxious odours that people throw over their bodies and then sit next to me on the bus, being able to walk through Debenhams' perfumery without holding my breath........but I'd miss the wonderful smells emanating from the kitchen when my partner prepares dinner, and the perfume from summer flowers. No, don't think I'd really like it.
I love our little bits of local news, they're so much more interesting than the national stuff.

On the scent of a comical candid street scene eh Moira, I can imagine you walking around town sniffing out another photographic opportunity. You have a real eye for this type of image and you nose it!Wink Norfolk in chance of me seeing anything like this, I'd probably just walk on by!Blush As for our local Gloucestershire papers non news stories, some of the headlines have to be seen to be believed. They have numerous ones about celebrities with very tenuous links to the county and others that are so mundane and uninteresting that they are just a waste of news space!Blush

Lol...I was thinking the same thing when I saw the headline!

From what you said about what passes off as news, I can imagine the dogs' meeting could've made the papers the next day: "Canine Fracas Narrowly Averted"
