Bill inter allia

By mrswoolybill
Or, Bill among the onions.
In the gardens at Seaton Delaval Hall.
The title came to me as I took the shot. It reminded me of a typo that I treasure, from a concert at Newcastle Cathedral, when Thomas Tallis's great motet Spem in alium (Hope in another) appeared in the programme as Spem in allium (Hope in the onion).
Thanks for looking,

Motel? Or is this another wordplay I am not privy to?

Not many can boast about having a Bill in their onion patch..just remember to strain him out of the French onion soup before serving, though...

Attended a performance of that in Durham Cathedral years ago. The separate choirs were placed high up in the galleries either side of the nave, producing quite an effect. Those singers really knew their onions.

Spem is immensely theatrical. A friend of ours has sung in it, said it was the most terrifying experience of his life.
(Spellcheck changed Spem to Some, so motel for motet is entirely plausible...)

"The world is just a great big onion
And pain and fear are the spices that make you cry
Oh, baby, and the only way to get rid of this great big onion
Is to plant love seeds until it dies, uh-huh…"

One of my favourite songs😁😁😁

lurking in the bg thinking of the day when he'll make the onions cry...?
also Sperm in alium would make even a cruder typo

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
oh won't you come and play with me

Who put me in this bed?
I'll bet her face is red
I call her down with every teardrop that I shed
If I only had her here
I'd take her by the ear
And make her share my misery

Great shot and title Moira

When it comes to dof, you certainly know your onions, Moira.

My most embarrassing typo came not long after I joined this site.
I commented on a female nude image taken in a garden shed.
Unfortunately, I didn't spot the spell checker correction when I called it wonderfuk.Blush

"I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch
And all I do is cry all day
Boo hoo, boo hoo"
Although it doesn't appear Bill is crying! Or is He?

Looks like Bill knows his onions here, Moira...🧅 A fine shot of the onions with Bill lurking just sufficiently out of focus in the background 👍

Does it say something when someone photobombs a shot of an allium? Wink
