Brick Lane 2

By mrswoolybill
Another pair of images, the main upload is artwork that I consider truly beautiful, the version is more of a wry observation.
We enjoyed wonderful light that day. I haven't boosted colour in any of these, it just happened.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Itís all about the light and the layers, a flat surface imbued with depth, like a rich tapestry. And the way that the surface damage, the scraped, torn surface seems to perfectly compliment the image underneath.
Nice.

Thanks early birds. As Alan says, there are layers upon layers of artwork here and sometimes they merge into each other. And as Jeff says, the eyes had been ripped out, and I found that powerful.

The square crop works extremely well here Moira, an excellent comp' with great light and colour.
V1, yes I agree, but sometimes it's hard.

The colours are fantastic - the sentiment in V1 is what we all strive for not always easy though.

Two great finds. A lovely sentiment in the version, but not always possible to achieve.Smile

The lead image has 3D qualities - I wanted to tear a bit more of the paper to see what was underneath - well spotted and composed GrinGrinGrinGrin

...you must not speak, but then, if you speak, you must not show your face, or, if you show your face, you must not speak, and you must not prophesy to us what is right, speak to us pleasant words..
p.s. a powerful piece of street art and great eye and photography on your part

Good in colour, but I could quite fancy a grungy b&w to go with it.

This is a powerful, commanding image. It jumps off the screen and I'm sure that has as much to do with what you've left out as what you've concentrated so tightly on.

Two well spotted images, Moira, not much in the way of colour - or light - around here today, it's horrible weather Sad

As well as showing the beautiful colors on the LH side bricks, you have made an image with a grand message!

Peeling away the layers, seeking the truth.

or

I see a face sans eyes, mouth and ears. Compelled to not being able to witness the truth.

Thanks again everyone, and Eric thanks for the UA.
This sort of shot for me is very much about selecting a rectangular frame from the big, untidy whole.
I'm deliberately not commenting on interpretation, I'm leaving that to other. But when I see a face that has been significantly 'adjusted' I find that interesting.
I've now got a b&w conversion that I quite like, with a bit of twiddling with the colour channels. It will appear some time.
