Carole is a member of our U3A Photography group. I went round to her house to discuss a natural light portraiture session she has plenty of space and uncluttered, plain walls. So I tried out a few possibilities. This was against a dark brown wall in the kitchen, it was more or less a grab shot with no real planning but I like it.
Thanks for looking,

It's easy to over-think things. Spontaneity wins the day.

A superb portrait of what appears to be a very kind compassionate and good humoured woman, Moira. A quality image.

I'm with Alan - and I'd be really pleased with this as a portrait.

The hard part is dealing with the people: the technical side can be pretty easy and relaxed.

A grab shot is often the best one as the sitter is more relaxed and not thinking you are about to take the picture. A perfect example of this with the lady looking straight into the lens.

Excellent portrait Moira. The unplanned, spontanious shots are often the
most rewarding. Although it does help if the photographer knows what she/he
is doing. Smile Very nicely done.

Well we went out to do some painting on the exterior woodwork, things have continued to move fast here. Thanks to Neville, both the Ians, Dave and Bob for their UAs. And to everyone who has called in.
Carole has enjoyed the picture rather better since I made a couple of adjustments, minus on Clarity and a touch of Gaussian blur... Wink

This is really good Moira. You have really caught the essence of the woman.
Unusually, I didn't look at my "Following" photos today, but saw this as I scrolled down the gallery and thought "I know that face"!! Excellent.
