Here...

A gravestone in the cemetery of St Edward the Confessor's Church, Leek.
I noticed the light and shadows first. But gradually I became aware that a number of stones, dating from the late 1730s to around 1780, featured the same very stylised engraving of Here. One anonymous stone mason who left his signature behind.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

I have to repeat what I said on Bill's image Moira, one of your best ever Saturday Shadows. Love the Light on the Epitaph, excellent pov too.
(Ok, it wasn't 'exactly' what I said on Bill's. Wink)

That is an unusual engraving. I've never seen one like it. Clever, and well illustrated here.

She did well to get to 71.
Probably ate lots of broccoli… eventually dying of boredom.

Some very lovely light falling on the gravestone Moira, really picks out the wonderful texture in the stonework Smile

Very sombre, so well captured and processed.

That'd be a ripe old age in those times.

An eighteenth century watermark, in a way. He can't add his name to the gravestone, so signs this way instead.
