One magical evening

By mrswoolybill
A magical evening at Alnwick Castle Gardens. Magical for four reasons:
• Gorgeous light, golden and mellow, as the sun went down;
• Excellent company;
• Buck’s fizz and classy nibbles;
• Everything including admission was free, we were guests of the Duchess of Northumberland...
This is the lower part of the cascade; I haven’t manipulated colour, it really looked like that!
This week I have been celebrating volunteers in our community. Today’s upload is very closely linked to my last three, tomorrow I’ll explain why.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Now, let me see... We had baby jacket potatoes filled with garlic butter, chicken satay on sticks, sausages with whole-grain mustard and honey, little rounds of toast with smoked salmon and cream cheese... It's a bit early in the morning to be thinking about this...
Cheers everyone,
Moira

waiting for tomorrow's explanation... in the meanwhile, excellent composition and great colors.
flipping left-right would give a more natural and positive feeling?

Two wonderful curving diagonals, plus the gorgeous golden highlights on the water, marvellous photography Moira, more like this please. I could have stood here for quite some time.

I should have added with my mouth wide open and my nose pressed against the window as you wined & dined with the gentry... hope you'll still talk to us?

Just got back from the weekly shopping trek, thanks to everyone who has called in here. I've added the flip for Francesco and he is of course correct, it gives a very different feel.
Now don't assume that I am often a guest of Her Grace, but I have been involved in events with her on a number of occasions and she is a very good hostess! (And that comes from a staunch Republican...)
Dougie, there were actually very few possibilities and this was the best. The sun was setting behind dense trees, one half of the garden, including this side of the cascade, was in deep shadow. I have a few reflections from the Water Garden but I'm not ecstatic about them.

V1 is my pick.
The color and light are beautiful, and it is a perfect image for us to conjure up your evening. It's always fun to step out on the town. The food sounds wonderful, too.
I rather admire her for her gardens, and the stories that have come from it. I would love to meet her, she sounds delightful. Lucky you!

The nearest I will get to the hob nobs Moira,is when the Lord Provost opens our photo exihibition for the Festival.
I will probably give it a miss. We have a Royal Wedding here on Saturday,and will probably give that a miss too.
At least yours was free to get in.It will cost four quid to see the Provost opening our exhibition.If you have a pic on show,you will get in for free,but it will need to be a real bit of magic for one of mine on show !!

Technically and artistically captured to reproduce the beautiful light and shape, Moira, that shape "ogee" I think, is very satisfying to the viewer, excellent photography.
