Picnic tables in winter

By mrswoolybill
Beamish in December, on a morning when for just a few minutes the sun shone.
I'm uploading this with some trepidation after the reception for the first of these. I will add though that I very rarely take pure landscape shots. I want a human interest, either real as in the previous upload , or implied as here. It's the emptiness of those tables that says winter for me.
Thanks for looking,

That light was a real gift.
I think people are just too soft these days.

magical light
and great how you avoided human presence, too

A somewhat desolate scene, given hope by the shards of sunlight trying to warm and tempt.

That's quite the most beautiful and evocative image I have seen in many a year.
Thank you for sharing ma'am

Wonderful light.. perhaps greater effect if the front bench were to be removed?

Perhaps Bill could oblige? 😁😁😁

Lovely Moira, I seem to have missed the previous version somehow.
An unfortunate lack of attention on my part. (it is rather good)Smile

The seats on the left force your eye across to the sunlit path, which then leads you into these rays of light. Superb!

As with your previous upload from here Moira, it's the light that makes this wonderful image work so well. The tables, beams of sunlight and the reflections on the path all lead the eye nicely through the scene, making us want to explore beyond 👍 As with that previous upload, this deserves my Award too 🏆

The light in both shots is fantastic - really like the long shadows of the trees in the first image. Interestingly, and this is where we all differ I guess, I prefer the mood created here. It can be read in so many ways. The lack of people demands an interpretation - be it, a winter’s day, isolation, where does the path lead, what around the corner...I often think that the inclusion of people can narrow the possibilities of interpretation? Either way, the processing and toning suits both images and helps create the mood.

This time without human interest, but the light and atmosphere are excellent, those empty tables are very much inviting, beautifully composed...

I prefer this to the previous version. I think the composition is much stronger and more balanced, and I tend to agree with Steve's comment regarding the human element.

Thanks everyone, particularly those who have gone back to the previous upload (that was one helluva productive two minutes!), and particularly to Leo, Peter, Guy, Dave, Nathan, Trev and Alan for their UAs.
Point taken about human presence in landscapes - but remember, I'm essentially a people photographer... Wink

It is the light , perhaps the toning and the empty subject that makes this image a winner for me!
