Restoring broken lives

By mrswoolybill
I was sitting on a bench in Hexham, looking for street images, but nothing much was happening. But then I saw the shadow in a shop window opposite...
The Restore shop belongs to the Betel charity. They work with vulnerable, broken people, training them to restore second-hand furniture. The work teaches useful skills, it also gives self-confidence, a sense of achievement and pride.
The version is for explanation – for the main upload I was trying to mix shadows and street reflections and I think I was maybe trying too hard. The version does illustrate one of the laws of photography – however slow the shutter speed there will always be One Sharp Foot...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Great street and shadow image, well seen and works well in mono.

Everyone has three lives. A public life, a private life, and a broken life.

A great combination of tones, textures and reflections Moira, I am loving the wood grain,

The version for me. It's helpful to have a fixed point of reference in a world of increasingly blurred lines.

( Note: I think that's quite profound for this hour of the morning )

An excellent lead image Moira. Thank goodness places like this still exist.

Very well spotted, Moira - no danger of any Saturday Shadows here, it's grey, wet & windy! 😟 I like the movement in the version, the chap to the right is almost still, yet the woman seems to be rushing by 🏃‍♀️

It proves that the harder you try the better the image. Great work like both. Like the one sharp foot that's all it needed.
