The Best Man's Speech

By mrswoolybill
They have been married for just two hours. The groom is undergoing ritual humiliation at the hands of someone he previously considered his best friend, his wife is laughing her head off.
It's a bit soft, and Bill got in the way on the left, but this is one of my favourites from the day.
Last of the wedding b&ws.
Thanks for looking,

It must be so gratifying to see your daughter laughing heartily at her wedding, Moira. You captured the moment so delightfully. Superb!

Have to say wedding candids aren't really my favourite genre, but when you've a camera in your hands, Moira, you can be very persuasive. This is really good.
And I think Bill's ghostly intrusion actually adds to it, makes it more real.

I like the softness to it Moira.
If it is one thing that annoys me at my camera club,
is everyones obsession that the images must be SHARP.
A lot of nonsense if you ask me.
Although I am blunt when I tell them that !!

Back home after a distinctly depressing morning. Cheered up a lot now - thanks everyone, and especially Pascal for his UA.
Bill is the white blur on the left, I couldn't quite get rid of all of him and still keep the composition.

Precisely. Though I don't think I've managed to get that message across in the Critique Gallery.

A great close-up of the lady's joy, Moira! Grin There does seem to be an obsession with sharpness - and lack of any noise these days. At the YPU Annual Assembly they had a professional photographer displaying his digital work projected onto a large screen and he commented that you should get the image and sod it being biting sharp or noise free (not his exact words!) Would have been marvellous if Bill (for example) had been able to capture the groom's expression at the same moment. That might have been not so hale and hearty a laugh as the bride's.

I always gaze upon the image first and then scroll down to read the descrip. I gotta tell you...I didn't even notice the softness. It just looked perfect and embodied what photography is primarily about for me - capturing the moment. And this is SO well captured. Anyone who spent 2 seconds more on focusing would've missed this great guffaw.

Stellar shot, Moira.

What a wonderful expression you've captured Moira, an image to cherish for years to come and one that will no doubt bring a smile to your face
Oh I really hope they have a long and happy marriage together, that laugh is straight from the heart and I hope she does it often.

Brilliant capture Moira, better to catch the moment of fun than the pin sharp stooky shot in my opinion.
