The Quayside Company 2

By mrswoolybill
I'll repeat some of the explanation that I gave with the first upload.
On the Newcastle Quayside, under the Tyne Bridge, there's a pair of benches dedicated to the men of the Quayside Company of the 9th Batallion, Northumberland Fusiliers. The Company was raised by the joint Chambers of Commerce of Newcastle and Gateshead in 1914.
The seat-backs take the form of silhouetted soldiers, with stylised poppies.
This is the soldiers' shadow.
The version is for Joline, who asked to see the bench in full. It's difficult to photograph as the black paint is new and shiny. But this gives the general idea.
Thanks for looking,

They look more like a band of musicians performing than soldiers, Moira. A great shadow image in mono and I like your POV.

Looks rather gruesome in the lead image, but seeing the wider view in the version, makes it all clearer! Wink
Thanks again to you and Bill for a great day yesterday in York, despite the weather! Grin

Thank you for uploading the full bench. It is actually a rather impressive tribute. I do like your lead image even more than the first photo of it. It must very difficult to photograph with all the background to deal with.

My first thought, before reading title or commentary was shadows of a music group! I am an ancient peacenik. Make music not war. If you can't make music make pictures.

Super image.

Couldn't get much better shadows than this. When I first looked at this, I seen something so awful. I seen the two centre men hanging, the man on the right looked like an army person with a gun. The guy on the left being the boss who gave the order to kill the two in the middle. Sometimes, I think my imagination is sick, lol.

Good afternoon EPZ!
We are home after a couple of days in York, I'm quite staggered at the reception this one has received.
Thanks to Guy, Ken, John, Ollie and Ron for their UAs
Some interesting comments above. I can see the hanged men, and the rock group...
I have one more to come, the bench plus the shadow.
And now I have some catching up to do.

I am guessing it is the size of the images!

v1 looks rather sinister, and I'm glad to see the whole picture in v2 - but what terrific shadows Moira SmileSmile

The shadows are superb and the image so thought provoking - love what you have done with this after seeing the original bench!
