Tread lightly and leave no trace

By mrswoolybill
Somewhere near the Barbican.
I think this one needs colour by the way, for the red jacket and traffic light. But I知 interested in the way the emphasis changes between colour and b&w, V2 seems to me to be more about the legs on the right, and the arrows.
Edit: I intended this as a test for the little grey cells, but Barbara (baclark) 'read' it immediately!
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Hhmmm I think you were looking up at a metal ceiling took the image then flipped it...? Probably miles out but reflections really appeal to me, it's something about the permanence, yet fleeting nature of them. The patches of red, triangle of pink at the crossing and yellow lines really make this for me. So it has to be colour.

Prefer the colour after I worked out what was what. Clever as always Moira. Is this the glass ceiling we keep hearing about?

Amazing contrast between v1 and v2 - the eyes jump from left to right as v2 is opened - those lines on the road suddenly draw us away from the figure on the left. I like both, and I particularly like the mouseover effect

Well spotted in the first place (I have visions of you walking around looking up, and everyone else around you wondering what you are seeing!!!!), and it makes a lovely abstract image. You are right about needing to be colour - love those reds!

My brain cells are not too good at working out these kind of shots Moira,so glad it is all out in the open. However,I would have said the colour is a must here for these reds !!

Oh, it definitely has to be color. In the mono version, the emphasis is on the dark pole which is not the best feature of this image. The color gives it the magic.

I really like the colour version very much, and the silky quality of the tones in V2 are superb. An excellent image that works equally well both ways.

Clive - something odd that I hadn't noticed - I took a few pictures over several minutes but that light was always red!

Artistic composition in the image frame with excellent photographic qualities, here, Moira. The v1, color, rendition, is the 'superior image,' in this instance, & this is why. Here, we see the 'power of individual color,' namely the vivid red, seen of course in the traffic light, & the bright red jacket of the pedestrian in the mid-lower left thirds position(sweet spot), in the image frame. What the color rendition does,...& the monochrome, B&W version does not,...is to 'immediately get my eye into the scope of the picture.' First off, my eye immediately sees the highly reflective & mirror light highlight surfaces in the upper right third(another 'sweet spot') in the image frame,...and then, hesitates, slightly on the red traffic light. Then, my 'eye is conveyed to the moving human figure with the red jacket, rather quickly.' The color version, just 'clicks quickly into the viewers perusal,' while the monochrome, 'demands, more close scrutiny,' which just takes more time. Nice work, Moira. Have a pleasant & fruitful week.

Ciao...Peter

V1 totally enhances this pic Moira with just a bit of colour. I like the "confusion" aspect of reflected images. I love what you have done here using reflection as a tool of art ; "fusion" of mod architecture with everyday street activity; there is flow in the halfmoon curve of light from the traffic light leading the eye around in a U down toward the red coat. Nice work excellent composition.

I'm amazed at the response to this - many thanks to Ollie for his UA (and to Joline for her UA on Catch a Falling star 2 - two in a day is incredible).
It's been a tough day, a very tricky procedural meeting, all the tactical manoeuvring that I wanted to get away from when I retired, but this is in a good cause. I think I may need a drink this evening though.
Thanks to everyone who's called in here, may the rest of the week treat you well.

color no doubt, Moira.
I love the tension between all the lines and the directions of the passers-by.
and I'd say that the traffic light needs to be red here, it creates a bounching effect with the man with the red jacket.
well deserved UA

very intriguing image. Colour for me, I like the red spots.
Interesting how the reflection of the person happens to be. Body without head, then whole body, then head without body. Combining lower one with upper one gives the whole reflection - superb!
