Adrian.....I don't think they're Oak trees ?.......there's something 'different' about them, all the main trunks are
growing in a spiral fashion, & being in a very exposed position have suffered badly over the years, but they are
clearly VERY old trees, & full of 'character' !!!!.......I'll look into it a bit deeper & see what I can find out !!

I've been close to some of these trees at Croft Castle, Keith!
They were covered in a pink fabric, at the time!!

Adrian......I've discovered the trees are 'Spanish Chestnuts'......& the spiral growth is typical of this species !!!!

****.......Yes, I remember seeing them covered in Pink stuff too......something to do with an 'arts' festival or some such ?????
