Mulfra Quoit

By natureslight
Mulfra Quoit is one of the smallest of West Cornwalls Portal dolmens at appx 3.5m tall with a capstone weighing about 5 tonnes It was constructed between 3500- 2600 BC and it is thought that it served as a Funerary and ceremonial centre. This is high up on the moorland, when constructed the surrounding landscape unlike today would of been dense forest and this Quoit would of stood high on a hill overlooking the forests. One of the sides of the chamber is missing and the capstone is resting on the ground.
To my mind this one has the best quoit location in Cornwall, high up on the moor overlooking the sweep of mounts bay.
