Back Home Safely

This photo was taken at the "Flying Legends" display 2008 at Duxford.

Originally in colour, there was a line of modern light aircraft parked in the background and stewards/helpers in the foreground wearing yellow reflective jackets. This was hardly conducive to the WW2 period atmosphere so I managed to clone the extraneous detail out in Photoshop.

Finally I converted to monochrome to complete the transformation, which hopefully gives the impression of the "Flying Fortress" returning sucessfully from a daylight mission over Germany.

The aircraft is named "Liberty Belle" and was flown over to England from the USA to appear at this and other airshows.

I like the shot in black and white and the dramatic clouds
