Real or Airfix?

By netsukekoi
Another shot from Shoreham at the weekend. Over-exposing an overcast sky to get this level of detail does make it look a tad unreal, but this Vampire was certainly real and travelling at a couple of hundred miles an hour at the time!

A stunning aircraft and I think the exposure is spot on. If you'd used RAW you could have darkened the sky to balance it or created a pseudo HDR to the same effect.

Agree it is about time I made the step up to RAW - have been avoiding it as I have little enough time to dump these into Elements and pick a few to upload as it is, without the extra steps of RAW conversion, etc - but increasingly I look as shots like this and think maybe if I had used RAW....

For shots like this, RAW is definitely the way to go.

Even allowing for your having to convert it to Jpeg. to upload to here (sharpen it a final time just before you upload it), this would have been much sharper and would have shown more detail.
