Terrific Trio ...

By sut68
A once in a lifetime opportunity occurred on Saturday morning, where three Gresley A4's were lined up before service in the yard, past Deviation, at Grosmont.

In order [from left] is 'Union of South Africa' [60009], 'Bittern' [60019] and 'Sir Nigel Gresley' [60007]. For those of you in the know the engine far right is Schools Class, 'Repton' which wasn't runing this weekend.

I heard later that morning that this is highly unlikely to happen again, as one of the owners doesn't want his lined up with another A4 ... I hope this isn't true as it's a sight to behold in 'the flesh'!!!

Met up with Andy [Hailwood] and Graham [Graysta] for a great morning at the yard ... cheers for all your time and help guys. Fran even made a friend for life by the look of it ... hi Peter if you're looking in Wink

Also bumped into the Friths - Tony and Glynnis - nice to finally meet you both, and also Stephen [Wigge] after we were last there nearly 12 months ago. Was like a mini EPZ meet Wink

Originally shot with a this format in mind ... anyway, have a gander at the large on if you've got the time ... after all, it's BIGGER Wink

Paul

Powerful image of the terrific trio, nice work Paul, the line up is aided beautifully by the smoke and the shining rails, great composition.

A sight which mirrors Kings Cross "Top Shed" in the 50s. Superb lighting conditions and smoke quality. One of the strongest loco images likely to be seen for a long while.
Curious bit of politics going on with the owners. Who is the miserable blighter I wonder and why ?

WOW.

When I first opened this I immediately thought about all those old black and white movies that evoke so much emotion.

Very powerful and very historic.

This should definately be a limited edition if its so rare. Wink

I love how the tracks lead you in and the one train is in front of the others.

You, Fran and Bev are fast turning me into steam train addicts.

Love it Paul.

LOL Patrick ... nervous - sort of, but I suppose that's the beauty of digital though isn't it??? At least you get to see what you've recorded, so you can spend more time getting things right and not wasting the light!!!

As for not wanting to line his machine up ... that's his prerogative I suppose, but it would be a real shame if this didn't happen again - well, every once in a while that is!!! Wink

Good idea Colin, though I did think '3's Company' was another.
