Wall of Death

By NexusImages

Much thanks for the response to yesterdays upload. Sorry to bore with the repeat offending of location but I am trying to replace my stock in a local cafe to this lighthouse. Title is a bit tongue in cheek (as was yesterdays) todays is a track title from the great Richard Thompson. Fab little song to sing along to and scare the neighbours . Apt for this location as the waves were moosive, in stark contrast to how they appear on this image. Last light allowed a 121 second exposure with just a standard ND grad on (what no ten stopper?). Just don't look at the blurry lights on the other side of the shore as they will make you feel like you just got off the wall of death itself.
Thanks for looking.

Best version is on Celtschmerz but can't find that on YT, so, for the RT fans:

Beware of the bearded lady!

Fantastic image. The lack of obvious colour helps to focus on the elements that make up the image.

Just a thought but have you tried a mono conversion of this?

Cheers Barney, Paul and Alun. I'll give the mono a go but I'm not that confident in my conversion skills. Thanks for the input.

thanks Cathy and Ed. Bill, can you do the twiddly pick in the middle? I reckon the rest of it would be fair simple enough Smile.

Used to be able to, based on the original version on Shoot out the Lights (brill album, BTW!!), but that was on an strat with a band behind me. Originally as I recall it was in A major.
Not heard this version before, and RT never plays the same thing twice when he cranks up his acoustic!
The only man I know who can make a single acoustic guitar sound like an orchestra!
Been trying to unravel his playing since 1970....still working on it, although very I've now got a camera (some people may think I can't play that either!! Wink) and haven't picked up a guitar for a few years. It is on my To Do list.....

The long exposures effect on the sky and the muted colour palette are excellent Amanda. A strong composition and good clarity.
