A nice place for lunch?

By niamh
It was a choice between another baby shot and this. Opted for this in the end.

For those of you not familiar with British English, arse is common word for the rear end.

The words Coca-Cola and "arse" next to each other. Well it's the only time I've seen the marketing department get it right. A click for the smile. I'm a bit "listerine" at the moment with everything that's gone on (work that one out if you can). Keep up with the baby shots. They're lovely. -Rab

great shot, very funny..listerine Rab?..could you possibly mean American = Yank..rhyming slang = Septic Tank..Listerine = anti-septic and therefore anti american??..lol

Very amusing, just shows how important it is to have a camera at all times to catch things like that.

hi,

thanks for the comments, and for the rhyming slang - i like that, rab. would never have worked it out myself so well done, lynn.

know what you mean about feeling a bit anti-septic, but won't go into politics now as it's way too early.

cheers to you all.

thanks sze, matt, jaime and jan,

sze, this was taken in tiny little village on the way from san sebastian to barcelona. no idea what they served there - i guess it was just normal spanish stuff. i'm sure they had no idea that the name of their restaurant sounds so amusing in english. since it's in the middle of nowhere, i doubt they ever get a non-local visitor. i should have popped in to share the joke.

HAHAHA....still tickles me, Neeve! Thanks for the info on where the restaurant was. What does ARSE stand for in spainish?? =)
niamh 17 34 United Kingdom
15 Jun 2004 6:02PM
hi sze, i don't think it stands for anything. it would be pronounced 'ARR-SAY' and that's not any spanish word that I know of (that's not to say is isn't one). it could be the surname of the people who run the place.
sze4j 16 56 Singapore
16 Jun 2004 10:08AM
Well, thats a heavy surname to carry... =)
YAY, just got my repaired camera back...off to shoot some pics soon...see ya!

Hi Niamh. Very bored at work this afternoon, I looked up this restaurant on the web. Disappointingly, it doesnt seem to belong to Mr and Mrs Arse: it is in the town of Hjar, which is thought to correspond to the ancient Tarragonese settlement called Arse. I found one review of the restaurant which gave it a mark of 1 out of 10: all the food was frozen and the service was terrible. Sounds like it's a good job you only stopped to take a photo!
