With the inclemant weather of late, I've been tring my hand at one or two new avenues. Some have already born fruit.
I have always admired still lifes, the forgotten genre in photography, there have been a few that have flown the flag on here (Chase and Cattyal to name but two).
The problem they tend to suffer from is that they are inate objects and can look well, dead. The old masters had a way of painting that gave form and dimension. So I thought what can I achieve with a maglight in a dark room. Well this is my first effort. I arranged a few elements I had lying around, it also fits well with a book I hope to do some day on my family history. I then "painted" the image at close quarters with a small torch, building the effect up over several layers. Its still very much "WIP" and something I will be taking further, though I'm only on the very early steps of a very steep learning curve. I have other ideas, with more interesting subjects - tho that will depend if I can pick up an old battered Cricket ball from somewhere !!
Oh anyway my first feeble effort:
If you would like more details I can expand on them in future blog posts. Is this something worth exploring further .. or is it too boring?
