Go Forth

By Nick_w
I think I will leave the Whitby shots alone for a bit as I'm sure your getting a bit tired of them.

This was taken about 6 weeks ago, was unsure about uploading but thought what the h*ll.

I cheated a bit by combining two shots to get the right level of water movement.

It was quite an amazing evening as there was a slot between a couple of big thunderstorms where the light was amazing. Whilst its difficult to see here, there was a mist layer on the river, it was more aparant on the ones about 15 mins before this. The combination of the river and the later thunderstorm I was completely drenched when I got back to the car. I must have looked a right site when I got back to the hotel!

Following Johns comments below, my first visit next day was to the paint company who 'used' to supply the paint for the rail bridge.

All comments welcome.

I'll be chugging over this bridge today on my weekly commute home, beautifully toned image.
bit of a shame about all the repair work going on over it.

John, the repair work is the continuing painting of the bridge..the old joke. But it is planned for them to use a paint system at last that can last for years (about time too, as I sell the raw materials for it!)

Thanks Paul, I will (enjoy myself that is)... Oh and I think your allowed a bit of creative license once in a while Wink

Moira it was a dream like evening. This was an hour after a thunderstorm and an hour before one. The atmosphere, lighting etc was just great. Tho didn't manage to get any of the storm, something that I would love to capture.

Ian I took two images about 10 seconds apart, same settings. Then used layer masks to reveal the water details to suit the composition.

Thanks everyone. I tried the crop Mike, it took away from the light on the FG rock. I have a series of portrait format that I will be looking at, but I'm not sure if it will have the impact of this. I couldn't move to the left to negate it either as I was balancing on a rock outcrop - tho I steped into the river retreating!
