Ice Maiden

OK..Ive been playing around with an old file, I'm trying to perfect a look for an upcoming project. I know not everyone will like the style, but want a Gothic almost ghostley feel wiith a cold look, ironically the end project wont be portrait or glamour, but chose the base image as I felt it had a similar atmosphere to what I was looking for.

I really would like suggestions.. I dont normally enable mods but I will do here just for fun. But I stress its a cold (cross processed) look I'm after to create atmosphere.

I've put up the original straight from Lightroom

Hi Nick - I did have a quick play with your image, but to be honest couldn't really manage to get the effect I was trying to based on your description, so didn't put up a mod. (I tried a slight diffuse glow among other things which, while giving a slightly ghostly feel, didn't really do much else!). So I didn't think you'd appreciate my efforts Grin As it currently stands as an image, I really do like it the way it is though. (Mind you, it did make me smile when I went back and re-read your title ... I'm not sure 'miden' was quite what you meant!? Smile

Thanks Tanya, I've had a problem with my keyboard with the "a" I thought I'd picked up all the typos, but forgot to look at the Title .. Thank you Blush

Meant to say, any mods appreciated on this one.

Nick - I've added my mod for your consideration. Probably not the look you've got in your mind, but it's my take on it Smile
(Edit: I used a bleach bypass effect tutorial on planetphotoshop.com for the HDR look - and learnt something in the process, so thank you for that Grin)

You are spoiled for choice with all those mods for suggestions.
Just shows, take a great starting image and the possibilities are huge.
I'm afraid I don't have time to play just now, but I wish you well with your project.

Nick, not sure if this is what you want, but there is a chapter in a Kelby book "Professional Portrait Retouching Techniques for Photographers."
Which details how to create Porcelain- looking skin. Might be more towards what you are after

Thanks Richard, I wasn't looking for that here - in the project, I may include a reflection, that will have anything but smooth skin. But it is of interest for something else so will look to get the book, I have a couple of Kelbys books and they are excellent.

It's difficult to try achieve a look someone else is after, but I had a go at two mods, probably not quite what you're after. Basically just a version of a bleach bypass effect, changes in colour temperature using luminosity masks, some retouching on the model, just because I wanted to and messing around with the saturation panel.
