Saltwick Blues

By Nick_w
One from yesterdays trip to Saltwick with Mike. We got some quite awesome light very early on, but I will leave those for another day as Mike beat me to uploading one of these.

This was my first outing with my own Big Stopper. It seems to be quite a bit Bluer than Mike's version, which I borrowed at Spurn. Also nearer 11 stops than 10, but I can live with that. The mono of this isn't too bad either, which I may put up one day.

This was low tide !! The surf was very impressive - some of the waves broke well over the nab. Eventually I called it a day when one covered me to thigh level stood very close to here - so much for the wellies.

Right going to find a screwdriver to re-configure the filter holder to stop them light leaks!!

Like it Nick , a simple composition that works well and perfect use of the TSr.
I will be a bit sceptical of the Tide Tables in future and still would like to understand what happened yesterday morning ?

All I can think of it was to do with the rough sea we had. I can understand now why theres been so many wrecks there - I still cant believe those surfers !!

Different times of the year and weather (I think) have the low and high tides at differing heights (metres) todays at a similar time is 1.6 metres and later in the week it is a 0.9 metre low tide where I think yesterdays was 2.0 plus metres, hope that helps

Thanks for that Les, thinking about it, with Saltwick been quite a shallow shelf, 1 metre makes a lot of difference. I think the Moon has a big influence as to the tidal patterns etc.

Yes, was looking at Mike's upload a few minutes ago - you certainly had a wonderful sky. And a wonderful image you've captured here, too, Nick, worth a peek large.
