The Fallen Prince

By Nick_w
A big thanks to Pete on the EC on the last image. I'm planning further images of a similar ilk next year.

This is the last in the "vamp" series, one where I delibratly tried to challenge taboo's etc. This image wasn't really planned as Gareth was just relaxing before the setup was complete, I saw his pose out of the corner of my eye, whilst Carolina and Letty were having final makeup retouches. I said hold that pose right there, and fired of a couple of images - there is a nice portrait shot of Gareth whichj I may pop on here at some stage - but I wanted to conclude the Story. For me it has a touch of decadance, achievment, arrogance about it

Rather more than a touch, it's dripping in youthful arrogance. Hamlet in a crown of thorns, he'll start spinning the globe next.
Minor tweaks because I'm picky, I want to tone down the highlights on the chairback a bit and give him plain black socks. And I want that shirt.
Divinely decadent.

Thanks, I know what you mean with the chair Moira - I took a picture without lights and it was still full of highlights, just from the normal lighting in the studio, the highlights have been toned down a lot - it was one think I hated about the chair, it was picking highlights up from everywhere (I've layered it in and done a lot of cloning) - I also wasn't keen on the trousers or shoes, unfortunately Gareth didn't have any alternatives.

Wonderful image Nick and I do agree with Moira's 'Divinely decadent' comment. Don't see the chair highlights as a problem though. To my eye they add another level of drama. Thank god we all see things in different ways it what keeps photography interesting for me!

An outstanding portrait and a nice bit of acting by the sitter. The quality of the lighting and your processing are first class Nick.
