Studying his watch, wondering how long he should wait...

Not sure if this works for me. I can't make out where the cloud of 'smoke' emanates from or why, and if he's holding something in his hand we can't see it so it seems meaningless. The angle of his stance on the boardwalk also seems to be a bit off kilter.
Sorry to be picky as I know you spend lots of time on your images. It's just the way I see it. Please feel free to explain and shoot me down in flames. I couldn't do what you do.

To me it represents something he is trying hard to remember. It's there, like a little contained cloud. He's almost got it, if he could just get a grip on it. Before the mist comes and takes it all away. An image and the right title can make one's mind see.

Chris I knew before I started this, it wouldn't be to everyones tastes as it's a bit more surreal than most of my images (tho' most have a surreal element - at least the composites). I normally leave it to the viewer to create their own interpretations - but the thought behind the image was to create an ethereal, almost dreamlike vision. A guy waiting - it's a pocketwatch in his hand, the chain is very visible in the print - which is how its really meant to be viewed. Waiting.. for what, well that's up to you. But the steam, is coming from his pipe - creating a cloud, I was wanting to create an almost cartoon like bubble to represent his thoughts, reminiscences (hence the title) - and yes that part of the idea did come in a dream.

I was wanting to create a bit of a punctuation mark to my images, a little different, but hopefully recognisable with my "finger print" a lot lighter than my usual creations but still with a somewhat melancholic feel. It won't be my main style for composites, but I'm thinking of a series with a similar feel but maybe a little more planned, as this was an experimentation, running through some old images.

I think is excellent, up there the best of your images. I like the lighter side creating that minimalist look about it,
Yes we know you for the more darker images but this lighter style gives you a whole range of work that could be produced and would make a great series

Oh and I know where those boards are from lol

Foe some reason my comments didn't come out first time Sad so here they are again! Grin

As usual, utterly brilliant! Your images are truly in a class of their own, and to say I'm a little envious of your imagination and skills would be an understatement! Blush

Thank you Nick. I was looking at the image on my tablet and didn't see the pipe. I now understand your thinking behind the image but it's my limited imagination that's at fault a lot of the time. Smile
Excellent work with a great result.

LOL ... yes it is from that meeting Les - we will have to do it again soon. I am planning on a series, already have one image in mind (If I can pull it off as its not straight forward).

Sometimes you work on images and know that its not quite the finished end result - but will be important on the direction of future work, and I think this will be one of those times.
