Under the boardwalk

By Nick_w
I suppose we all go thro it. I've been having a bit of a crisis of confidence of late, probably due to not much in the way of new material and trying too many things processing wise.

So this might be the last upload for a while. I will continue to visit and get ideas.

Anyway this is an old image completely reprocessed.

I used CS5's HDR facility, which I found quite good, tho the noise is a problem in colour images (I actually like it in mono's) - tho I don't do many HDR's these days
I then used Silver EFEX Pro 2, to be honest the jurys still out, I'm not sure its really for me and how I want my images to look, but hey ho.

Anyway let me know what you think, honestly please.

I was trying for a slightly surreal effect. I've left the people in (dont know if you will see them at 1000px, but for me they give the image something else).

Final words really just my thoughts are with the family of a good friend who's funeral it is tomorrow, he was only 51.

Its a beautifully contained composition and controlled exposure mate.

One eye leads the horizon , the other to the person and all under that sandwich of sand and pier. V.

Oozes quality , and the tides perfect Smile

This works very well Nick, All the elements come together perfectly - texture in the timbers above, texture in the sand below, shadows from the uprights, plus the pier leading off to the right. Then to finish off there are the figures (or posts?) in the distance, which give depth to the image and a link to the horizon - the one between the 2nd & 3rd upright from the left is perfectly placed.

Keep up the good work,

Mono works very well here love the shadows and detail captured under the foreground part of the pier.
Yes your right most of us do go through the confident's issues but we come out the other side feeling stronger i think.
Your confident's should be high for this image though Nick it is a great image and has a strong composition .

Well, I'd be more than happy if this was mine, Nick Smile A wonderful image, with the light picking out the ripples in the sand...and yes, I can see the people! Wink
