Young Dreams

By Nick_w
First of all thanks for the EC on yesterdays image

Last weekend I was commisioned to a wedding. Things didn't go to plan, the wedding didn't go ahead falling through on the morning. However as the reception was paid for the reception was changed to a family gathering. I was asked to get a few images of the bridesmaids and younger kids.

This was a candid shot and not staged believe it or not, just a slight crop from the top. This hasn't touched photoshop, Lightroom, followed by a preset in Silver efex Pro.

Not a great day but I thought I would share this as a few asked how it went on with the photography after asking advice in the forums. I'm quite happy with it (although I may end up removing this as I'm a bit uneasy with it sitting in the PF). In future I will leave the wedding photography to those far more gifted than me !

So, so very sweet-- one of the best candids--tells a whole story!

You could not have asked for the two children to 'pose' any better, Nick, even if it had been set up.
As a candid shot it is remarkably good and I would hope you might leave in in your p/f.
So many different story lines could be thought up to explain the postures and placement of the two young folk.

I get the feeling looking at her footwear that she'd rather be in jeans and T-shirt. I love that incongruous little detail. I think this is lovely and has a very old fashioned look to it. The stance of the boy and his clothes are very retro and the girl is a photographer's dream.

What a strange story. A wedding reception without a wedding. This has a slight air of fantasy, it figures. Love her footwear.
