Thank you for visiting. Here is a record of some of the things I see as I stumble around laden with photographic and sound recording gear ... not to mention the sandwiches!

About Me

I suppose I ought to explain the name first off, it's a nick name I was given years ago a sort of corruption of Nick the Brief (the well know race horse) and nick the greek (the guy who ran my mates chippy) but it has spawned all manner of titles for websites .. I'm particularly proud of the Greif Encounters thing Grin

I've been a keen Natural History geek for a number of years but never seriously. I used to use a couple of Olympus OM10's but got rid of these when I got married along with the darkroom hear. I still own a film camera - A Russian copy of a Hasselblad ... it was about 950 cheaper than the real thing ! I still threaten to buy a roll of film one day ... if I can remember how to use a light meter!!

About 4 years ago I fell into the trap of buying digital camera ( Fuji S9600) and things sort of spiralled an this was quickly followed by a Canon 350d (now owned by my Daughter) and then another Canon - 30d Which I still have. These were joined by a Nikon P5100 P&P for digiscoping .. this has become a bit of an obsession now.

Currently use a Canon 7d (recent acquisition ) +either my 100-400is L or a Sigma180mm macro

I still use my faithful Fuji S9600 though (as well as a Nikon P5100 with the Kowa Scope for record shots) ... told you it was an obsession.

Recently I've started taking Insects and Wildflowers which in turn has lead to a dabble with landscapes - still learning and one day I'd like to have a go at people - but thats for the future...
