Heath Fritillary

By Mike_Young
Morning folks Grin Many thanks for the C&C's on yesterdays image, very much appreciated, special thanks to Rolepics for the UA.

Todays image is of the underside of a female Heath Fritillary back lit against the sky and trees, I spent quite some time stalking this insect and ended up flat on the ground at rather an uncomfortable angle. I got the picture, but picked up two ticks for my trouble ( the woods around Chambord are full of wild boar and deer that are their natural hosts) I would have liked more space around the butterfly but due to the angle etc. this wasn't possible.

Anyway...hope you enjoy this image!

Mike mate this is stunning! One of the best composed detailed images of a butterfly I have seen on this site, congratulations on your award, I can see loads more coming your way for this shortlisted by me, be careful with the ticks, they can cause all types of problems.
