I really like this Nigel, it has the essence of a Classic Oil Painting and I think it probably works so well because you have taken the shot from the rear, but where is the fox Grin

As always, it is expertly taken, the colours are so true, the mist in the background really gives a sense of the season and, you've got the wall and the main subject matter as your lead in, the extra special feature is the the horse and rider in the foreground I think that is key.

An image with so many positives, Nigel!
The composition is spot on in so many respects - the layers, the perspectives, the inclusion of the horses and riders - simply superb.

That's a breathtaking view into the distance.
This is proving to be a very productive location for you, Nigel, and I'm very much enjoying your continuing explorations.
Lovely image.

( Though I think I'd try to remove that rock that's sitting right in the corner... it's drawing my eye a bit. Otherwise it's perfect.)

( Though I think I'd try to remove that rock that's sitting right in the corner... it's drawing my eye a bit. Otherwise it's perfect.)

I wrestled myself with that one Alan, I have not cropped this image at all in processing, it is as taken. I deliberately put a stone at the bottom left in the viewfinder at the time of taking to try and add depth and also to anchor the composition ( I had time to compose as I knew they were coming from behind me and there was practically only one route they could take given the lie of the land). I decided to leave it in because I like the foreground land leading from the bottom left corner, guess the stone could be cloned out though.

Tremendous Nigel. I didn't think they went out so early in the morning. Apart from the riders the image is just so full of atmosphere. I love to sit at the Trig point and watch and wait mind you I do need a rest my the time I have struggled up the Hill To that great vantage point.

Missed this when I had a few days off but since Colleen's given it a GEA I'm delighted to add my vote.
Beautiful seems inadequate - now you're a master of landscapes.
