Great shot Rob... surfers, kitesurfers, fact any sports action captures are difficult given the UK's constantly changing light conditions.
Not sure on the size/weight of the Sigma? are you hand holding or using a monopod? seeing the relatively high shutter speed you are using. Are you shooting RAW and then post processing?
I have found that out on the beaches using a long lens for the surfers etc wind causing camera shake is a problem... so a high shutter speed is needed along with IS a wide apeture and ISO... again given the light conditions. My last Fistral shot was a very grey day.... good surf and surfers out.... but bad bad light.... but managed to rescue a couple of images in post processing.
I've been using up until now the great Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 with either a 1x4 or 2x converter to good effect.... but have now just moved into the realms of a Canon EF 300mm f2.8 prime.... so will also try the converters too.... well fingers crossed for some good surf action this month down in Devon and Cornwall as I'm back to work in October :-( have to pay for the lens somehow Smile
Good luck with your action work.
