another shot from a recent dance shoot. All I've done to the shot is crop it. The back ground the girls were dancing infront of was hideous, so any help/advice will be great. cheers

I love these long-ish exposure kinds of photos. I took one of some flamenco dancers in Spain once, and I was really pleased with the result - especially as I got to sit right up front and was literally less than a metre from the dancer.
I don't think the background is hideous - the colours seem to suit the shot, and there's not much detail thanks to the blurring. However, because the background doesn't extend all the way across the stage, and you took this shot from a side perspective, I've suggested a crop to get rid of the last dancer on the right. What do you think? It keeps the colours all of a kind without the distraction of that big band of black.
I agree, crop the right hand side plus I would also crop the dark left hand edge. You've chosen a good shutter speed that gives the abstract blur yet you can still see what the subject matter is.
thanks guys, i've chopped the right hand dancer out & increase saturation abit, listed on my flicker site.
i like the shot, the background works for me and i think you just about nailed it with contrast but i may have backed off a little on the saturation,
i note with interest that you cropped off one of the figures but for me that has taken out the strength of the composition, as they say 1,3 or 5 works but seldom 2 in a line.
the letterbox crop is good too and id leave it at your uploaded version rather than the mod.
