Ha ha, excellent. I knew there must be some use for those empty wine glasses, but I would never have thought of that, well done.

He he he!!!! Smile

I looked at the thumbnail and, in view of recent forum discussions on decency, I feared the worst!!

Well done - very imaginative.

Oh dear!
This will start something;o))

I wonder if you considered how those poor exploited wineglasses feel.

If it had been taken by a male member (Ooops perhaps I should rephrase that),

There would have been lots of comment, all the feminists would leap out of the woodwork .;o)

"Breast fixation, exploitation, stereotypical view of women etc, etc,!!

PS don't take this post too seriously, please.

Everything has been said, so I just wanna let you know that I think it's a really great shot! George

ivan, if a man ever does take such a shot and feminists do go down his throat, you can now prove them wrong: it is easy for anyone to see tits when two winestained glasses stare up at you from the counter of dirty dishes.

do you like the picture, ivan?

Yes it's very original, wish I'd taken it.

But then I haven't got that sort of mind.

thanks. i realize it's a gimmick, maybe even a plea for attention, if you want to get really analytical, as i know has been your tendency from time to time. photographically speaking, i've concluded it has much less merrit. would you be insulted if i said so based on the fact that i received no female feedback?

You've lost me now ;o)

So it's a gimmick, your words, what's wrong with a bit of humour in photography, or do we have to spend all our lives making po faced analyses of everything.

You're a long time dead, and as you get older you realize that the dead bit is getting exponentially longer than the living bit.

you have changed the name of this one and resubmit it after realising that them dishes were 'dirtier' than you thought have you not? im sure i seen this same pic named 'dirty dishes' or something without a breast or nipple reference in sight, am i going mad?

i liked it the 1st time round, was more subtle.

it does bring new meaning to the term 'dirty dishes'.

16 Nov 2003 9:18PM
you're right. it was a slightly different angle. i called it "very dirty dishes" and liked it better when it was more subtle too, but it seemed to be too subtle for most.
the more i thought about it the more i wondered if the actual dirt on the dishes combined with the sexual reference would be too offputting.
i also started to think that the knives and forks looked too cluttered, so i cropped it and simplified it, gave it some soft focus via diffuse glow.
now it's blatant. that is true.

well it seems to have worked :o)

i just needed to ask cos i thought i was going mad. can i ask, did you originally take the photo for the sexual elements or merely just making use of not washing up for days? ;op

Well speaking as a red-blooded woman I think this is great fun Grin ... lol .. what a great eye to see this in the glasses. Very effective .. and I was going to say they leap out at you from the thumbnail but then decided I'd better not hahahahaha ....

I had actually seen the last version and was going to add a comment! but then got distracted and forgot .. I prefer this one simply because it's less ambiguous and is more of a challenge to the eye ..

Yep, great fun, imaginative, not obscene in the least - it's what's in the eye of the beholder that gives it meaning .. Grin

without mincing any's great...full of humour, suggestion and irony.....

why do images like this, or rather, our carefully-composed comments on them, say more about how repressed we've all become..... ever anxious to avoid innocently offending people....we seem incapable of responding spontaneously or even joyously any more..

thanks for submitting's taken some of the heat out of the handwringing that went on in the forum recently...and allows us to smile without guilt again..!

thanks phil, you're right, but i would phrase it how repressed we've always been. our society has a lot of growing up to do.

wasn't even me who emptied them...but then it wasn't me who had to wash them either, and a good scrubbing they needed as you can tell by the crusty nipples...

From reading the comments here, its nice to know that im not the only one that thought it was what it isnt, but what it could have been at first thought. Really inventive and creative shot. This shot just proves that you dont have to use the real subject to make a statement. Good work.

"Crusty nipples", "a good scrubbing"?
Sounds rather painful ;o)

The mind boggles. Have you any more pix like this in your armoury?

At least we've been spared all the amateur psychology, or most of it.

PS. the more I look at this I see less breast and more glass, the effect seems to wear off, Strange!!
