Welcome to my portfolio. I would say I was an 'opportunistic' photographer, in that I have no particular 'style', but I do a lot of travelling, my camera is always with me and I keep my eyes open. So please join me in my wanderings around the world.

About Me

I'm 67 years of age and a semi-retired doctor. I've been seriously involved in photography for about 35 years, although if you go back to the absolute beginning, my interest started at the age of 12 when an enthusiast came to my scout troop to give a couple of lectures on photography. I was bitten by the bug, and I set up a makeshift darkroom with sheets in the loft of the family home - 55 years ago.

As an adult I used to have a full-blown permanent darkroom, but have long since gone entirely digital. My current gear is:

Canon 5D body
Canon 50D body
Canon 24-105mm f4 IS L
Canon 70-200mm f4 L
Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 IS L
Canon 10-22mm EF-S f3.5-4.5
Canon 60mm EF-S f2.8 macro
Canon 50mm f1.4 Prime
Canon x2 TC
Canon 580EX Speedlight
Manfrotto & Velbon Tripods

Since I joined ePHOTOzine on 9th May 2004 I have been stimulated to rejoin my old camera club, Queens Park in Glasgow, where I now enthusiastically participate (so far fairly successfully) in competition. I am also a member of The Scottish Photographic Circle. This is a selective group, membership of which is gained only by acceptance of a submitted panel of prints.

This portfolio photo was taken in Tiananmen Square during our visit to China in April/May 2010.
