Hello.
At Ocean near Stroud, Network Rail are replacing a small rail bridge to a larger bridge of which Stroudwater Navigation canal runs underneath. The reason is that narrow boats can then go from Saul Junction to Stroud. The existing bridge is to low for boats.
While having a look to what work was taking place, they started midnight 25 December and all being well finish by 1January 2022.
Standing on a swing bridge not to far from the new bridge I looked down and this magnificent Kingfisher was on the edge of the canal fishing for dinner. The Kingfisher would dive into the water to no avail for dinner. The Kingfisher stayed around for about 10 minutes then flew off. This Kingfisher looked so heathy and so large. The colours are so lovely. This is the best picture I have ever captured of a Kingfisher, not that I have captured many.
