About

Updated 02/01/08

I live on the South side of Middlesbrough in the North-East of England, with town and industry to the North, and coast and hills to the South. I have worked in the local chemical industry for more than 30 years and it has been good to me, my family and the region as a whole.

I have been an enthusiastic amateur photographer for more than 40 years. I am mainly an opportunist photographer, and rather to the annoyance of my family, tend to photograph almost anything except people!

From my early preference for slide film I drifted into negative and the convenience of prints using a Canon EOS 100, then started getting them scanned so I could use the images on the computer. I started in the digital world with my Fuji FinePix S304 in 2003 (great optical zoom), then moved on to a Canon IXUS 800IS in 2006 provoked by a planned holiday in New York. The influence of EPZ and a good friend have finally moved me back to the world of SLR and my Canon EOS 400D.

The EPZ community is an inspiration to me, both through the amazing quality and diversity of the images appearing daily, and through the encouraging and constructive comments made on my images - many thanks to you all!

Mike

A fine PF, quite an eclectic mix of images..........you mention the chemical industry in your "About."....would that be ICI Wilton by any chance.....

I was brought up in the North East...........not far from the BORO......small world........

It was with great pleasure that I gave you a GEA, very poignant images and well taken.

Best Regards

It is always a pleasure to view your latest upload to epz, Mike. Your photographs demonstrate without exception your deep love for and understanding of the environment you know best and record so sympathetically in these pages. Like the Middlesbrough area itself, your portfolio is much underrated, yet you do not hesitate to unearth for us its beauties rather than its banalities. Thank you so much.
