Curious icicle

By oldgreyheron
We have a large viburnum just coming into flower next to the steps to our front door. The snow and ice has weighed it down making a tunnel through which we have to stoop to get to and from the front door.

Looking closely with the IXUS the ice formations on the flowers and leaves are fascinating... there are tiny hairs on this little icicle. For scale the flower head is about 40mm across.

More snow predicted overnight - travel to work tomorrow will probably be chaotic!

Thanks for your time and interest,
Mike

The IXUS macro setting strikes again! This is extraordinary, Mike. A tiny little world. We have icicles hanging from ivy at the side of the house, I'm hoping for some decent light tomorrow.

An excellent image in colour, detail and description.
I wonder if there's a pub anywhere called "The Hairy Icicle"?
