Back to our visit to the magnificent gardens at the RHS Harlow Carr site just outside Harrogate.

In the alpine house I spotted this bee dipping into the chinodoxa (corrections please!) with enthusiasm. I love the colours.

1/200s @ f5.5, handheld, macro setting.

Please view large for more detail, many thanks, Mike.

A fine close-up achieved without specialist equipment. DoF is very good too. Well taken!

Wonderful light on this chionodoxa, Mike, and especially on the bee's wings. Terrific DoF work.

Good to see the Bee ! Not a bad photo either! Well caught, good colour and nice to see that it can be done without masses of gear.

Am I the only one suffering from pre-historic connection speeds?

Best insect shot there's been on the site for a while, there's a real sense of activity. Counts as a candid, really!
