Japanese anemone

By oldgreyheron
Some say that "variety is the spice of life" so a shift from remote and local landscapes to a very local close up.

This anemone is awaiting a break in the weather to be planted out in the garden. I grabbed a close up of the centre of the flower (it is about 35mm across) in some rather poor light the other day. Although the high ISO has resulted in some graininess I think the light has brought out the translucency of the petals in an unexpected way... good old IXUS!

Thanks for looking (I think it's worth going large), and as ever for your thoughtful comments. Mike

As near to sunshine as I've seen today.
Very nice observation, I like the irregularity within the neat, symmetrical composition. And that green is magical.

Many images taken with SLRs using dedicated macro lenses fail to achieve this quality and clarity of image, Mike. I know I have said it before but it's worth repeating. An image to be proud of.

I like the way you've gone in really close with this Mike - it's almost reminiscent of an exploding firework or some astronomical image.
