Walkway images

By oldgreyheron
On Saturday Sandra and I walked the 2 mile old railway walkway from Pinchinthorpe near Guisborough towards Nunthorpe and then back again (therapy for my back!)

It was therapy for the soul too - it was fine, occasionally the sun shone, we met only a handful of people and the whole route was bursting with nature. I took the IXUS and grabbed a sequence of close ups to give a flavour of the natural detail. No photographic brilliance here, but certainly natural brilliance!

I hope you enjoy the journey! First we have a bee (bombus pascuorum my book tells me) on clover.

You never cease to amaze me with the quality of close-ups that you achieve with your Ixus (my pocket passe-partout has sacrificed close-up quality for wide angle capability, more my style but nonetheless...) This is an exceptional 'bag' from one outing, with great colours and detail and very pleasing composition.
I note your comment on the rowan berries - we have a rowan that is already so overloaded that old wives' tales of bad winters spring to mind.........

Such fine details in all of these. Looks like you did more stopping than walkingSmile Each deserves a page of its own.

Old railway lines are often the best nature reserves. I like this set, it has a 'being there with you' feel. I suspect you didn't set out with any of these shots in mind, they're the impressions of the moment. The sort of photography that I appreciate.

This is a great set of images, Mike - the rowan berries look like tomatoes! They work really well as a set - nice work.
