My first chance to try out the new D700 and Nikkor 17-35 1:2.8 lens and I was personally very pleased with the results. I have added other shots as variants and I actually prefer V2 but it is not quite such an eye catching colour!

Definately worth viewing large for the detail if you have time.

Many thanks to everyone for the kind comments on my last upload. I will be getting to visit you all very soon.

Excellent shots Derek; love the details of the explosions in #2 and #3, but #1 is my favourite for the atmosphere

An excellent set, Derek, though V1 is perhaps more colourful, I too would go for V2 as my favourite, but all 3 are great captures.

very good results and great set, much better than any firework shots I have managed - lots of spectators at this event and very well composed

You have captured the atmosphere wonderfully well Derek, I think you may have chosen a spot to avoid the trees but on second thoughts I can see the crowd would have presented a problem.
Congrats on the new toy, has the D300 gone or now used as a back-up,

Thank you all so much for the wonderful respons and comments.
Geoff, I ended up in that position because I arrived late and nearly missed them so just shot from where I was. I actually rather like the fireworks through the trees. I am keeping the D300 with my trusty old 18-200 permanantly fixed and in the car ready for anything!

I will ignore that remark FP, I am still sulking Smile

Cheers all
