very impressive, the new MK4. How's the grain on a decent enlargement?

There's certainly noise there, but it's no worse than any other pro camera around. This is working at the edge of what's possible with current technology so I accept some noise.
It's not helped that this is a very dark scene - lots of dark areas where noise will show first anyway - and the lit scenes aren't that bright either so it's always gonna be more noisy than you'd normally get.

I've not done any NR on it either - I tend not to. I'd rather have some noise and retain fine detail that get a smooth image with no detail in it.

I totally agree - it's just quite small as a preview, so I wondered if the noise was workable or if it was only good for web-imagery.

Nice to know its unprocessed though. Can't wait for the D4 to come out...

From that point of view, yes, it certainly is workable as a print rather than just for web-images.

Very impressive - I like the three principal light sources separated by darkness in the relfection. The brake glow is a nice touch.

Did you pan with the tripod on this one or hand-hold with IS? As we discussed, I'm not sure I could have pulled off this shot with the kit I have at the moment. Is that a good enough reason to upgrade? Smile

Anyone keen enough to be awake at this time on a wet Sunday deserves a vote, but nevertheless a super shot.

Great capture, like the angle and those patches of colour work really well.

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated.

@Tony - this was panned on the tripod - it does simplify your life a lot with fast moving subjects like this.
As for a reason to upgrade, if there is a shot you want to achieve and you can't with your current kit, to me that's reason enough to upgrade!
