A little bit of trivia for the 6th January:
1066 - Harold Godwinson was crowned King of England.
1540 - King Henry VIII of England married Anne of Cleves.
1781 - in the Battle of Jersey, the British defeated the last attempt by France to invade Jersey.
1931 - Thomas Edison submitted his last patent application.
1947 - Pan American Airlines became the first commercial airline to schedule a flight around the world.
1977 - The music publisher EMI ended its contract with the notorious punk rock group "Sex Pistols", after reports of abusive behaviour at Heathrow Airport.
1983 - The Royal Navy arrested Danish Captain Kent Kirk at sea for trespassing in British fishing territory.
1992 - The US Government recommends doctors suspend the use of silicone breast implants as fears grew they could leak and affect the health of those using them. Note: interesting with breast implants being in the news again for the same reason.
2000 - Hospitals around the UK felt the strain of a current flu outbreak.
