    Thanks for looking.
    Barbados, eh Ed. Very nice!!
Don't like the idea of skiing on the sea. My son's done it and didn't like it - and he's a competent skier. And as far as taking pics on a boat on the sea - it's got to be a lot harder than on a comparatively flat lake. We had it easy!!
Took 500+ frames on this afternoon alone.

Kanos - thanks. The 70-200 f4 is one of the lenses I was looking at. It's specs certainly fit into what I need on the back of the boat. I would love the 2.8 but the price tag is out of reach unfortunately.

  • Where's Summer?

Yes, John, if you compare this shot to my earlier boarding shots I'll admit the quality doesn't really stand up. I was sure there was a problem with the camera so I had it cleaned, calibrated and sold it a month later to get the 20D. As yet the 20D hasn't been used in anger on the back of the boat. Waiting for that elusive ray of sunshine!!

Danny - don't tell anyone but it's dead easy with the 20D at 5fps and my new 70-200 (although the old 75-300 took some great shots.) I think I took 550+ images on that afternoon alone with only a few to discard due to focus/exposure problems. Obviously they're not all as dramatic as this one but I've got loads of keepers for the family album.
I suppose the greatest advantage I have is owning the boat!!!
Edit - Oh and family and friends that like to show off in the water!!
Thanks Ady - it's appreciated. Watersports don't tend to attract too much attention.

Skodster - as the light had almost gone the original shot was quite subdued so I used Shadow/Highlight to bring it back to life.

Malc - I've got loads from Sepilok but the first half hour was taken up waiting for the condensation to get out of cameras and lenses as we had waited at the viewing platform during a monstrous tropical storm!! Even then the lenses were partly clouded.

  • The Humber Fleet

I was that side of the Humber on Sunday Keith - prob at the same time. Further up, at Far Ings. Got some nice shots lined up (reeds+bridge) then all of a sudden the wind got up. Reeds swishing all over the place. Even got one shot of reeds+bridge+my hand trying to hold the b***ers stillSmile Might be worth posting under "Humour"
Anyhoo back to yours. Nice one - as usual.
